Garden Building

I'm very excited to be in HOS 1014 Vegetable Gardening for this Summer. I had a great time last Summer in intro to gardening with Dave Clark so I am very much looking forward to the lessons and knowledge Dr. Nuñez will be imparting on us.

This semester I hope to continue learning about the fascinating reproductive cycle of plants and how they can germinate across different varieties of plants and how that can potentially affect the crop yield. We touched upon this in intro to gardening last year so I am excited to see it as a topic for the second week.
I love plants, I am looking forward to audaciously planting, grow, and cultivate my own vegetables in a sustainable, economic way the most. I received my seeds in the mail only the other day and I was so excited to see all the different kinds of seeds we’ll be utilizing this semester.
This week we prepared to plant by getting our garden ready. I began by clearing out an area that I was going to use to build a raised garden bed, I removed all the dead leaves, sticks, and dirt in the area and set up a perimeter. This proved to be difficult as the quality of wood I had was not going to hold up for use after the semester ended. With feelings of audacity I went to Home Depot to buy better materials. I discovered there was a Memorial Day sale and purchased a garden bed that was raised and irrigated, how lucky! I went ahead and bought potting soil and hanging plants as well because they were on sale.
